Our relevant communications with the NSF

Note that course starting times and summer vacation times are not at all uniform, so please enter your times so we can coordinate better! (Communication among student groups will be a tough one under the best of circumstances.)

Our Timeline

Year 1, September 1, 2010 – August 31, 2011

The first half of this year will be spent in preparation by the Evaluator and her team, along with some programming by Forum staff and involvement in both activities by the PI. The second half will be planned project activities, such as work in courses and summer workshops.

Spring semester '11 could have some course activities if anyone is so inclined.

Swarthmore workshop, Steve Maurer, May 16 - July 22.

Drexel workshop, Dave Breen, June 20 - August 31.

RPI workshop, Barb Cutler, approximately ...

UMBC workshop, Penny Rheingans, approximately ... [Note: Penny may also do something in conjunction with an academic year course].

Sweet Briar workshop, Cammie Barnes, approximately ... May 23 - July 22, depending on housing availability.

Year 2, September 1, 2011 – August 31, 2012

Continuation and conclusion of normal project activities.

Preparation of final reports by Evaluator and team, with involvement of the PI.



Time as yet unassigned

Kansas State courses, Andy Bennett will have students in his College Algebra and/or Differential Equations create math image pages featuring images they create. Timing TBA. He will also be working with pre-service teachers.

Consultants available to all partners

Steve Cunningham will serve as special consultant in CS--but he's also encouraged to interact with math folks, as well!

Chris Taranta has worked with students on the MI 1 project, and he will consult with participating math, computer science, and preservice students.
