Editing Pages Help

If you plan to edit a page in any significant way, we strongly urge you to create an account. We are trying to build a community of people contributing to Math Images, and if you have a Username associated with your work, others in the community can interact with you, and you with them. (Creating an account is very simple: click on the "Log In / Create Account" link in the upper right-hand corner of any page on the Math Images site).

Beginning to edit a page

You can begin editing a page in a couple of ways. You can effectively bring up an editable version of the page by clicking on the edit or the edit with form tab near the upper right corner of the page, as shown by the red boxes in the picture below.

You can also bring up an editable version of just a subsection of a page by click on the "edit" link next to the subsection heading. This option, however, often doesn't work if the subsection has hidden text.

Doing the editing

Now that you have an editable version of some portion of the page, you may be able to figure out on your own how to do your editing. For technical help, you can also refer to Page Building Help. The Wiki Tricks page is especially helpful in keeping formatting and layout clean and consistent with the rest of the site.

Finishing the editing

Finally, click the "Show Preview" button at the bottom of the page, to see what the page will look like with your edits, then the "Save Page" button when you are ready for your edits to go live. (Many of us find the Preview step well worth it under normal circumstances.)
