Steve Cunningham is both a mathematician and computer scientist, and for a long time he has been interested in how computer graphics can help students understand mathematics. This has included both an NSF grant in 1976 that supported a graphics-based lab for general statistics and co-authoring an MAA Notes book on visualization in mathematics. He has also been very active in computer graphics and has developed an approach to teaching graphics that emphasizes its use in exploring and communicating ideas in the sciences and mathematics. One of his favorite activities is helping people explore their ideas and express them graphically, and he looks forward to working with students and teachers on this kind of project.
